Doesn't seem to work with Firefox v8 on Windows 7 pro sp1, x32.

When visiting the iTunes site and clicking on a trailer, the panel opens and I hear sounds but the panel remains solid green. But when I go to close the panel, I see a flash of the movie just before it closes.

You are so right about Apple Bloat softwares.. Talking about bloat and spywares.. Apple has a tracking device sending information on your location for every iPhone 3Gs and up owner... Now that's crazy!

I hope the work on new QT Lite with updated Quicktime 7.7 components is already underway :-)

Never had any problem with QT Alternative working on my XP Pro PC. Like many others have said; Really Nice not to have Apple's Bloated accessories [which I don't use at all], slowing down my computer!!!

Looking forward to the 7.7 update. I've come to take this valuable utility for granted these past few years and wanted to thank you for making it available keeping our systems from totally being taken over by Apple's inefficient software bloat.

Using XP Home SP3, QT failed to initialize in a Google Chrome browser. When in the configuration screen, going to the Audio tab crashes. Useless

screw itunes, unless u use itunes appz & games i highly recommend media monkey free/gold edition, even the free edition is great the gold just has a few extra organization tools for advanced users in it, cddb is still free in free so u know, no registartion spyware etc.

awesome sound options, track volume level normalizers, no bs restrictions like itunes uses. no i dont work for them but if u havent tried this app i highly recommend u do. im just a anti apple person. it works with the latest and greatest mp3 players iphones etc. and they stay up to date wiht it .

When might the fixes made in QuickTime 7.6.8 (released around 16Sep2010) be available?

It's a nice app. But somehow it won't let me change the MIME-settings on Win7 Ultimate x64.
Besides that, QuickTime is a highly security vulnerable app. Of course this gets fixed by Apple, but then it takes way too long before to update the version to the most stable and safe version of QuickTime. That's a bit of a bother.
If the 2 things mentioned above would be taken care of it would get a rating of 5.

@toldi - try the iTunes switchless-installer which allows one to install iTunes without QuickTime and other unwanted bloat but with QT Alt or QT Lite:

the new iTunes 10.0 doesnt work with QT Lite... it says webkit.dll is missing. I usually install iTunes+QT then uninstall QT and replace it with QT Lite but it didnt work this time. any thoughts?

The blank control bar is a known bug in QuickTime on 64-bit versions of Windows. Apple does not care about fixing it. They only care about selling their expensive iCrap.

You just need to fix the bug(?) that shows a black bar instead of the controls (firefox, win7 x64)

It CAN be corrected by running firefox with Vista SP2 compatibility, but at first I thought it wasn't working so I just uninstalled it (and so will many inexperienced users, which is a shame!)

doesn't work on Firefox 3.5 beta4 and Windows 7 64 bit.

The plugin is installed (about:plugins) but movies don't appear in the tabs

Works with short .MOV animation clips in H.264 and Sorensen codecs, and MPEG-4. I'm using Firefox 3.0.1 and QTLite 2.7.0 . Sometimes you'll need to go full-screen to see the play buttons at the bottom of the player.

Haven't tried it on clips longer than a few seconds yet.

Much shorter download and installation than the 57 Mb QT 7.5.5 whopper from Apple.

(I have several old games that still require the old Apple QuickTime MOV player.)

But with QT_Lite, I can play online MOVs and still use the very flexible Classic Media Player, off-line, as a very nice and optional MOV player.

So, maybe, those complainers on your QuickTime Alternative thread need to take a spin with QT_Lite? ;)

No Win2000 Support ==> no more QT alt.

Thanks for letting me know it wouldn't work with Win2000... I use alternative media players with Win2000 because none of the new players support it and I have NEVER gotten Quicktime to work at all with it. Just another dead-end. Thanks.
